Week O' Love: A Day of Romance in Old Monterey

Friday 9th February 2007

Monterey is easily one of the most romantic spots on the California coast. If you have a sweetheart you're looking to impress, you would be wise to plan a Valentine's Day getaway to this well-loved location. For a little bit of history, plan on experiencing the Annual Day of Romance in Old Monterey. The event, put on by the Monterey State Historic Park, is slated for February 10 this year and features four romance plays set in Monterey's Historic Adobes. Park docents will lead guests to four historic adobes where actors will present plays based on events and lives of historic figures from Monterey's past. All tours begin at the Cooper Museum Store and depart every half hour beginning at 11am to 2pm (with the exception of 12:30pm). Each tour takes about two hours and ends with tea, scones and a Victorian Opereatta at the Cooper Barn. Tickets are only $16 per person and are available at the Cooper Museum Store. For more information, contact Monterey State Historic Park at (831) 649-7118. Romance is in the air!
