Treasure Island Music Festival
Tuesday 11th September 2007
The masterminds behind Noise Pop, every San Franciscans favorite week-long indie music festival, has banded with Another Planet Entertainment to pack all that good music into two days on Treasure Island. Saturday and Sunday, September 15 & 16 is the first ever Treasure Island Music Festival featuring tons of artists that are well worth the trip across the bay. The 2-day fest features 14 bands a day on two stages but the kicker is that there's no overlap which is the major problem with bigger fests like Southern California's Coachella. That means you can catch Brooklyn twee trio Au Revoir Simone, run to the other stage for local country-punkers Trainwreck Riders and then head back to the Main stage for the raw-bluesy lamentations of SF duo Two Gallants without missing a single band in between. The first day of the fest harbors an electronic leaning with headliner Thievery Corporation (playing with M.I.A., Dengue Fever, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist among others) while the second day has a definite rock edge with Modest Mouse leading the charge. In addition to all that fabulous music, the festival will feature live art, a hipsteresque marketplace, treasure hunts and of course food, drinkds and adult bevvies. The bonus is that most of the bands at the fest are playing smaller venues around town in the days before and after so check local listings to catch your fave in a more intimate setting. Tickets are $58.50 each day or $110 for a 2-day pass. For those about to rock, click here.
