SF Sketchfest

Monday 8th January 2007

Aching for a belly laugh? Look no further. Head to San Francisco for Sketchfest, the cream of comedy's crop. The festival starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday, January 28 so you have plenty of opportunity to catch these comics in action. Tickets range from $10 to $50 and events take place at a variety of venues all over town.

Here's what my favorite SF happenings website, Flavorpill, has to say about it:

Having served as a hub for beatniks, hippies, and startups, the Bay Area further adds to its reputation for individuality, self-expression, and inclusion with the SF Sketchfest. Seeking to highlight the best of sketch comedy, the festival opens with Stella (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, and David Wain) and continues with 17 days of sketch, improv, standup, and experimental comedy. Other performances include David Cross, the Upright Citizens Brigade, and local talents Killing My Lobster and Will Durst. The Sketchfest Tribute to Paul Reubens, in conversation with Ben Fong-Torres, should be of particular interest to those who grew up with Pee-wee's Playhouse and recognize Reubens as the comic genius that he is.
