Ghost Trolley of Old Monterey

Saturday 21st July 2007

Nothing beats a good ghost story, except experiencing one in person! On your next trip to the Central Coast, why not take a ride on the Ghost Trolley of Monterey. This blurb on their website makes it hard to resist:

"Once the capitol of Mexican California, Old Monterey was the center of fiestas and balls, the glamour of dashing Spanish horsemen and the throb of guitars played by romantic suitors. it was also a town of intrigue, murder, swindles and shipwrecks.

Epic lives full of lost treasures, found romance, and amazing adventures. Visit the sites of the ghost in the garden, ancient burial grounds, hidden treasure, hauntings, hangings and frequent ghostly sightings.

This 90-minute trolley tour, led by longtime residents and local historians, will bring you into a Monterey that few alive today have seen."

Whew! Who knew Monterey had such a sordid past? All the better for your supernatural sightseeing. The tour begins at the Stokes Adobe, one of Monterey's most notoriously haunted buildings. Also on the tour is the oldest church in California, Monterey's historic cemetery and old legendary adobes. $28 seems a small price to pay for the possiblity of starring in your very own ghost story! Tours start at 8:30 most nights of the week. Call 831.624.1700 for more info.
