Flight Rights

Monday 2nd April 2007

With the recent Jet Blue snowstorm cancellation debaucle and other problems inclement weather has wreaked on on-time take-offs and scheuled flights, it sure doesn't hurt to know your rights as a customer and use them to fight for your flight. As DailyCandy reported, Rule 240 is a good way to get where you need to go when the going gets tough. Each major airline has an ordinance that explains a customer's rights in the event of delayed or cancelled flights "within control" of the airline. It may not apply to snowstorms, but it will give you a bit of an edge if you find yourself between a rock and a hard place at the ticket counter. My Travel Rights has clickable links to each airlines Rule 240 and it wouldn't hurt to print it out and carry a copy with you on your next trip. Who knows, it may save you from sleeping on the floor at SFO.
