Date Night!
Tuesday 27th November 2007
Looking for a romantic way to spend a holiday evening? Look no further than Hayes Valley. The civic center area is home to the impressive San Francisco Symphony and a number of restaurants that make for a perfect pre-show meal. The Symphony offers a variety of shows to choose from and why see only one? Take your date to Fiesta Navidad, a show featuring Mariachi Los Camperos' lively Mexican music and songs that recreates the pilgrimage of Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. Or Gospel Christmas, a program of spirituals, gospel, and holiday music to get your feet tappin' and your hands clappin'. A little more traditional? Check out Handel's Messiah. For your pre-symphony dinner, Hayes St. has plenty of options but one of our faves is the always reliable Hayes Street Grill. The menu offers tons of choices for fish lovers and has a few options for non-seafood eaters as well. They are used to pre-show diners and your waiter will probably assess whether or not you have a performance to catch and then serve accordingly. If you're looking for an atmosphere that is a bit more sophisticated, head up the street to Absinthe, where the plush decor and specialty cocktails will lay the foundation for their delicious dinner offerings. So what are you waiting for? Buy your tix and make a reservation for a holiday evening worth remembering.
